Hidden Bear Trail ATV Club Newsletter #2, 2019

CLUB MEETING:  Our second membership meeting of 2019 was held on Saturday, August 17th at Animal’s Bear Trail Inn.  A total of 35 members were in attendance.  After the meeting we held our annual fundraiser.  The weather was great and we had another successful day.  The crowd was large and we got thru all 100 meat raffles.  I want to thank all the club members that helped set-up, clean up and worked during the fundraiser, without your help this day would not have been such a great success.  All money made that day goes back into maintaining and creating new ATV/UTV trails/routes in our area.

OCONTO COUNTY ATV TRAILS:  As everyone is aware the Oconto County ATV Trails have been closed since July 20th due to the wind storm on July 19th and they are set to open up again on Thursday August 29th.  Our club has had 2 workdays and one more scheduled for Friday August 23rd to clean up the trails.  Thanks for all the members that have assisted during these cleanups.  Special Thanks go to the US Forest Service Team and the Oconto County Park and Forestry Department, their crews went ahead of our workers and did the heavy lifting to get the trails cleaned up.  Please be careful when you begin to ride again, many of the trails maybe rough and will look completely different!!

LANGLADE BRIDGE PROJECT UPDATE:  The ATV Clubs have hired an engineering firm to design a planset for the Rhinelander DOT Office.  This planset is a design of a new ATV Trail from Fish Hatchery Road to Memorial Drive in the Town of Wolf River using the DOT Right of Way.  These Plansets will need to be approved by the Rhinelander DOT.  If approved we will then move forward with getting engineer plans for the new Recreational Bridge.  We continue to move forward and are getting closer to making this plan a reality!!!  We will update you as we progress with this project.

NEXT MEMBERSHIP MEETING, CLUB RIDE AND CLUB COOKOUT:  Our next membership meeting will be on Saturday September 28th at 10:00 am at Mulligan’s Sport Bar on Hwy 32 south of Lakewood.  We will also have a club ride again this year leaving Mulligan’s at 11:00 am, going over to Crooked Lake to have lunch at the Crooked Lake Sportsman Park.  This is the end of the year Poker Book Party for Crooked Trails and Dusty Trails ATV Club.  After lunch we will head back and have our annual club cookout (location to be determined).  Anyone that needs to trailer their ATV/UTV can park at the Lakewood Trailhead.
