Hidden Bear Trail ATV Club Newsletter #3, 2019
CLUB MEETING, CLUB RIDE AND CLUB PICNIC: Our 3rd and final membership meeting of 2019 was held on Saturday September 28th, 2019 at Mulligan’s Sport Bar in Lakewood. A total of 41 members were in attendance. After the meeting we left Mulligan’s on our ATV’s/UTV’s over to Crooked Lake for the end-of-the-year Poker Run for Dusty Trails ATV Club and the Crooked Trails ATV Club. We had a total of 18 machines and 30 people on our ride. After lunch at Crooked Lake we started back to Mountain to start our annual club picnic. This year the club picnic was outside at the School House Bar. The menu included Hot Beef Sandwiches, Hot Dogs, Baked Beans, German and American Potato Salad, Cole Slaw and Desserts. All food and desserts were homemade by members of the club. The weather was beautiful for the ride and picnic.
LANGLADE BRIDGE PROJECT UPDATE: On Friday October 11th the Langlade Bridge Committee met with the Engineer Firm that designed an ATV Trail along Highway 64 and Highway 55 within the DOT Highway Right of Way. The engineer explained the plan to the committee and one of the Land Owners adjacent to the Hwy Right of Way. These plans will now be presented to the Rhinelander DOT for their comments, approval or disapproval. If these plans are approved and the committee works out some temporary easement issues, our next step would be to start with the engineering of the bridge. More info to follow as we go forward with this project.
DONATIONS: Our club received 2 – $500.00 donations to help with the cleanup of the ATV Trails that were destroyed in the storm of July 19th. One donation came from the All Season Riders ATV Club from Elkhorn WI. This club is also a member of our ATV Club. This club does not have any ATV Trails but they travel throughout the state each year to areas that have ATV Trails and try to give back to clubs to help maintain the trails. The other donation came from the Lakewood Area Chamber of Commerce. Our club belongs to the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce and they understand that the work that gets done to maintain the trails is from volunteer’s and again want to help our club be successful. Thanks to both of these organizations!!
OCONTO COUNTY ATV TRAILS: This year the Oconto County ATV Trails will close on Sunday November 3rd for the year. There is 4 weekends left, hope you can get up here and enjoy the fall colors and enjoy our trails. Most people will be surprised on the damage that was done from the July 19th storm.
