Hidden Bear Trail ATV Club Newsletter #3, 2022

MEMBERSHIP MEETING:  We held our 3rd and final membership meeting for 2022 on Saturday September 24th at Mulligan’s Sport Bar in Lakewood.  We had 39 members in attendance (great turnout).  After the meeting we had a club ride over to Crooked Lake, with 13 ATV/UTV’s and a total of 20 rider’s.  The day was cool, damp and cloudy but still had a nice ride.  After the ride we had our annual picnic at Schoolhouse Bar in Mountain.  We had a great turnout, well over 60 people attended the picnic despite the weather and the picnic being outside under the covered area at the Schoolhouse Bar.  Thanks goes to Pam and Don for hosting our membership meeting at Mulligan’s and Clay & Chrissy from the School House Bar for allowing us to use their outside facility.

ATV/TRAIL AND ATV/UTV ROUTE UPDATE:  Our ATV/UTV trail system that our club is responsible for held up very well this year, we did some work on our waterbar’s this spring that helped thru the entire year.  The update on our ATV Routes or Town Roads is the 7 local towns in the area including the townships that our club work with which are Riverview, Lakewood and Doty are developing new ATV sign ordinances and ATV Speed limit Ordinances on the town roads.  Our club attended a 7 towns meeting in July to suggest to all 7 town’s that they would try to all be consistent with their speed limits.  At this meeting they decided to form an Ad Hoc Committee to review this issue.  Their next meeting is this month and we will give you an update on this issue.

WATERBARS:  I am looking for someone that can clean out the waterbar’s for the month of October.  If anyone can help, please email Jim at:  hiddenbeartrailatvclub@centurytel.net.  Thanks.

ANNUAL ELECTIONS:  At our September 24th membership meeting we held our yearly elections, we had some changes to our officer’s and board members.  The following is the results of that election:  President – Jim Wisneski, Vice-President – Ron Schomoker Sr., Treasurer – Tom Siudzinski, Membership Secretary:  Dawn Schomoker, Administrative Secretary – Diane Fitzpatrick, Board Members:  Brian Fitzpatrick, Gene Dunsirn, Mike Richling and Ron Hermsen.  The Hidden Bear Trail ATV Club would like to thank all of the members that volunteered to serve on our Board.

OCONTO COUNTY ATV TRAILS:  The Oconto County ATV Trails will close on Sunday November 6th at midnight.  This only includes the ATV/UTV Oconto County Trail System.  Most town roads and county highways are open year round, please check individual townships for updated information.  With that said, we still have over a month of riding left, the weather has been beautiful and the color’s are pretty much at their peak in this area, so get out and enjoy the trails and be safe!!!!

ATV/UTV DNR CLASS:  Just a reminder our club and Red Arrow Snowmobile and ATV Club hold a WI DNR Safety Certification Class each spring.  Our next class will be in April 2023.  Once the date is set I will notify all of our member’s.  Just a reminder:  ANY ONE BORN AFTER JANUARY 1ST, 1988 MUST HAVE A DNR SAFETY CERTIFICATE TO OPERATE AN ATV/UTV.
