Hidden Bear Trail ATV Club Newsletter August 2013
August
Meeting: Our August 2013 Meeting and Annual Fundraiser was held
on Saturday August 17th at Animal’s Bear Trail Inn. We had a total of 42
members present at the meeting and thru out the day at our
Fundraiser.
Riverview,
Doty & Lakewood Report: All Roads in all three townships
are now open for ATV/UTV Travel, just a reminder only portions of Highway F in Lakewood and County T in
Doty ditchlines are open for ATV/UTV travel and
are clearly marked. The rest of these 2 County Highways are not open for
ATV/UTV Travel. Please remember when traveling in these ditchlines to go slow
and be careful as some of the ditchlines are not on a level
surface.
Forest Service Report: Our Club has signed
an agreement with the Forest Service to improve a new ATV Route/Trail from Blue
Spruce Road over to Boulder Lake Campgrounds. Our Club will be brushing the
trail on Tuesday August 27th, if any members can help please meet at Animal’s
Bar at 9:00 am that morning. Our local contractor will be doing the
improvements on the trail, once the trail is complete and signed we should get
the approval from the Forest Service to open the trail. Another project that we
are working on is a connector thru the Forest Service from Shadow Lake Road to
Blue Spruce Road. This will allow riders to get to Highway T & 64 quicker
and also to the Nicolet State Trail. The last project with more info is the
trail/route from the Nicolet State Trail (from Mulligan’s) over to Sullivan
Spring Road and to the Golf Course. This project has been in the planning
stages and it looks like we will be able to open this project in the summer of
2014.
Annual
Fundraiser: We had a great turnout at our Annual Fundraiser on
Saturday August 17th, 2013. We had a record number of Meat Raffle spins (103)
in just a little over 4 hours. Thanks to Team Dave Thomson for again running
our meat raffle. Also thanks to all of our members who attended and volunteered
to work, it takes many volunteers to make this day a success and our members all
came thru with flying color’s. Thanks again, we could not do this without you.
A special thanks to Mike Richling (Animal’s Bear Trail Inn) & Clay &
Chrissy (The Schoolhouse Bar) for donating the 308 Caliber Rifle with Scope.
The rifle was won by Rich Karrasch. Our Cash Raffle Ticket Event was also very
successful with all 125 – $100.00 tickets sold prior to July 26th. The winner’s
were emailed to all member’s and a list of winner’s will be in the Beacon.
Proceeds from this event go toward maintaining & improving our current
ATV/UTV Routes and Trails, establishing new ATV/UTV Routes and Trails, and
installing and paying for ATV/UTV signs in the Lakewood, Riverview & Doty
Townships.
Next
Membership Meeting, Club Ride and Club Cookout: Please mark
down Saturday September 14th as our next membership meeting that will be held at
the Firelite Lounge across from the Lakewood Trailhead at 10:00 am. Following
the meeting (approx 11:00 am) we will take our annual club ride on the 47 mile
loop off of the Nicolet State Trail over to Animal’s Bear Trail Inn for Lunch
and then back to the Trailhead in Lakewood. We should be back around 3:00 pm
and we will then have a cookout right at the Lakewood Trailhead. Refreshments
and food will be sponsored by the Hidden Bear Trail ATV Club. All members and
their guests are welcome to attend even if you do not go on the club ride,
please come to the Lakewood Trailhead for food, refreshments and fun. The club
again will sponsor the meat and drinks but if you would like to bring a dish to
pass that would be great but not necessary. Also if you can email Jim if you
plan on attending and how many would also help but again not necessary just show
up for an afternoon of fun. A reminder will be send again prior to the
event.
